When was the last time you evaluated your orientation? Start by asking yourself, what is its purpose? Simply stated, the objective is to get them excited about starting school. Frequently, orientation is more academic than exciting, introducing faculty and staff while going over "the rules." Even though some of this is necessary, we also need to be sure that it is motivational. So, ask yourself, are you bored at orientation? If so, your students are too!
